The BOX-tracker range of products enables users to manage and monitor assets and mobile resources of all types. Robust and compact, the BOX-tracker system can be installed in any vehicle to provide total visibility of movement and behaviour.
Why tracking?
In the modern age, information is required instantly and vehicle tracking is no different. Gone are the days where it was sufficient to solely know a vehicle’s past or future destination.
In order to react to customer needs, detailed information is required immediately and with millions of pounds being wasted each year through inefficient fleet management, BOX-tracker offers the ideal solution with a guaranteed return on your investment.
So the answer? Keep on tracking!
How does it work?
BOX-tracker operates through the installation of a tracking device that utilises the Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine location, speed, direction and time. This information is then logged and transmitted to the tracking server via General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) which is a Mobile Data Service available on the Global Systems for Mobile Communication (GSM). The resulting data is then presented on an extremely user friendly, Windows-based application.
Guaranteed return on your investment
Increase productivity
BOX-tracker provides the tools necessary to maintain the health of fleet operations, affording a live picture of the location of an entire fleet at the touch of a button so that you can respond to a customer’s needs immediately. Additionally, BOX-tracker can generate instant alerts if an issue with a vehicle occurs (i.e. flat battery) ensuring that you can remain proactive, rather than reactive.
Reduce costs
BOX-tracker gives the user the ability to monitor any unauthorised vehicle use such as excessive speeding or idling, all of which can contribute to reduced fuel economy.
Pure simplicity
Manage your vehicles without over-managing your team
Built with the user in mind, BOX-tracker is an extremely user friendly system, utilising a simple Windows-based program that requires little IT support or dedicated training for your staff. Accessible from any computer with an internet connection, the working lives of your drivers and staff can immediately become less stressful.
Instant customer service
Providing a real-time snapshot of your vehicles’ progress, BOX-tracker enables you to track activity and provide accurate estimates of arrival times. Or perhaps a customer has an emergency that requires immediate response. Again BOX-tracker provides instant traceability of your entire fleet enabling you to respond quickly and efficiently to any potential crisis.
Information at your fingertips
As part of the BOX-tracker solution, a user friendly reporting program is included. Spoton has massive functionality and offers full visibility of your vehicles - no matter where they are in the world. As well as being able to track the location of any vehicle fitted with BOX-tracker the user can see the location on up-to-date satellite maps and view a vehicle’s behaviour, including direction and speed.
Environmental considerations
Emission Standards
All new cars must comply with strict EU vehicle emission standards, known as Euro standards. Four pollutants are covered: carbon monoxide; hydrocarbons; nitrogen oxides and particulate matter (diesel vehicles only at present). These permitted emissions are becoming stricter with the introduction of Euro IV on 1 January 2006 and will be followed by Euro V (2009) and Euro VI (2014). The older your car, the more polluting it is likely to be.
As part of the annual MoT test, vehicles have to pass an exhaust emissions test, with the standards based on the vehicle’s age and type of engine.
Making your vehicles greener
By monitoring the driver & vehicle behaviour, BOX-tracker can ensure that a vehicle is being driven in a way that minimises the impact of its emissions.
Drive responsibly
Racing starts and sudden stops increase fuel consumption. BOX-tracker can generate alerts when harsh acceleration or braking occurs to allow you to be proactive in tackling any potential issues.
Steady your speed
At around 50mph (80 kph) emissions are at their lowest, rising dramatically above 70mph (110 kph). With BOX-tracker, parameters can be defined to highlight any excessive speeds by a vehicle as well as flagging up any speeding violations that may occur.
BOX-tracker & your legal obligations
Vehicle legislation is constantly updated and revised and can be difficult to keep up with.
BOX-tracker provides the means to ensure that you meet the following legal obligations:
Corporate Manslaughter Act
From 6th April 2008, an organisation can be prosecuted for any gross failure in the management of health & safety that results in fatal consequences.
Directors have a duty of care to their employees and need to be aware of their movements and actions throughout a working day. BOX-tracker provides the ability to:
■Specify speed parameters to ensure driver safety
■Generate alerts on any exceptions in vehicle activity (i.e. harsh braking/ harsh acceleration)
Working time directive
The Working Time Directive is a collection of regulations concerning hours of work and is designed to protect the health and safety of workers. Key features are the limiting of the maximum length of a working week to 48 hours in 7 days, and a minimum rest period of 11 hours in each 24 hours.
BOX-tracker enables businesses to meet these regulations by:
■User defined journey lengths
■Highlighting exceptions
Vehicle Tax
From April 2007, the benefits-in-kind tax charge on company vans was increased from £500 - £3,500 per annum. Only by proving that a vehicle is utilised for purely business, not personal use can a company protect itself from this tax. BOX-tracker can equip businesses with unequivocal evidence to support any claims.
